Exhaust System Service

More Than Just a Muffler

Your engine creates small explosions to power your vehicle—these explosions produce harmful gases that need to be safely removed. That’s where your exhaust system comes in. It protects you and your passengers by filtering out dangerous fumes and reducing engine noise.

What Does the Exhaust System Do?

Your exhaust system is made up of several parts working together:

  • Exhaust Manifold: Collects gases from the engine

  • Oxygen Sensor (O²): Monitors exhaust levels for efficiency

  • Catalytic Converter: Converts harmful gases into less toxic ones

  • Muffler: Reduces engine noise

  • Exhaust Pipe: Releases cleaned gases safely out of the vehicle

This system also helps improve fuel efficiency and limits harmful emissions released into the environment.

Signs of Exhaust System Trouble:

  • Loud engine or muffler noise

  • Loss of power during acceleration

  • Decreased gas mileage

  • Strong or unusual exhaust smells

  • Check engine light related to the O² sensor or emissions

Common issues include exhaust leaks from rust, bad oxygen sensors, clogged mufflers, or catalytic converter failure.
